A Friend

I listened to “The New Game” and istantly thought of my best friend. Not because he plays this game, but rather we are always talking about how far some one has to go before they are content with themselves. We have a theory about people who smoke pot… pot is the beginning of most peoples’ destruction. A person who smokes pot usually has to try new things and from there they try something else. Cutting is just another one of those things to me. If someone isn’t happy they try something new and usually it doesn’t keep them happy long either. I have watch many of my friends (used to be friends) go from drinking to pot to herion and so on. Some of them just started popping pills, which is bad enough. my best friend and I both started on this road to self destruction and helped eachother out of it. We never really did anything too harmful but that is only because our friends were a few steps a head and we saw what happens. My friend is one of those guys who can see things before they happen and we talked and knew what we had to do. I think the message from this podcast is exactly that, look a head and see what happens and don’t let it happen to you. This podcast is for people who are questioning themselves and need to be shown what can happen if they keep going in the the direction they are headed. I am lucky I have a friend who looks out for himself as well as me. He would help anyone at anytime with anything. He drops what he is doing when I call and need something and never makes a big deal out of it. He bought my OSU football tickets and his job moved him out of town for a bit and with that he just gave me the tickets he worked hard to get. He is just a guy who looks out and does nice things without even trying or thinking about it. People who are into trends that can get them hurt need friends like him, just as I did. Thanks buddy…

Sorry this was posted late, I wrote my first one on this topic and it had nothing so here it is…late…ha ha

Word Design

Basic Principles

  • Proximity- When writing it is important for me to remember how i place things. I need to group similar items together and those that are different should be separated.

  • Aligment- The way I am currently setting up this page is a nice way to use alignment. If i just typed this all in one paragraph the important points would be held within the text. Since I put the principles on the far right in front of the reading it can catch a readers attention.

  • Repetition- All of the principles are in bold, which makes it clear what exactly the principles are. If I only put two of them in bold it would not be so clear to the reader what points I want them to catch. The same holds true for the use of my bullets.

  • Contrast- I think the only real contrast to this writing is the my title being a different then the rest.

I always read things in a hurry, even if I read it twice, so there is always something I miss or don’t fully understand. After class today I am sure that I will have more to say about these principles to design.

CLASSIFICATION BY GENDER

email.JPGI chose to find toys that are usually classified by gender. I automatically thought of GI Joes and Barbies. These toys are almost alway classified as boys toys and girls toys, even though sometimes you can catch a girl with a GI Joe and a little boy with the barbies. I never did such a thing… well not in a few years atleast. Anyway I search online for the pictures and used Paint to put my finish project together.

Wysocki

I certainly do not feel like I have not a clue as to what she was talking about. Is she saying that we can choose colors and backgrounds to illustrate a visual meaning to what we write? I understand that how we present writing can pursaude someone to feel a certain way about a topic. If I am writing about a beautiful sunset with dark colors versus bright oranges, yellows, and reds the mood will be different. We can make words stick out to persaude the reader into catching those words, which can visually illustrate our point of a topic. I feel like I am missing a big part of this reading. Most likely because I have never had to read about this type of writing. Sometimes leaving things sinmple will let the reader read whats there without any conflicting thoughts. As soon as we change colors or order of words the reader has to buy into the writer’s way of seeing it. I am not sure I am on the right track with this reading, hopefully we discuss Wysocki’s views and then I can add to this blog.

Kairos

Hello, let me see if I can even explain a new word I read about. Kairos is a way to explain time in a non-calendar manner, rather just a point in time that actions or something can occur. Since today in sunny and very warm it is a kairos time to be outside. I enjoyed reading about this term because it made me think about time in a new way. I think you have to think of kairos when arguments are present because a certain time in society or in a person’s life can influence an argument to a large degree. If my bother just died in a drunk driver accident then I will probably not be agreeing with my buddy who thinks it okay to drive after he was drinking. There are many situations that are very similar. I have not recently kept up with the debates. I guess i will do some catch up and finish responding later to the questions. Also I only hit save not publish the first time around with this blog.

How does this work?

I recently became familiar with Facebook and MySpace, which i still have not a clue on how it works. I have noticed a link on people’s home pages for blogs. When i first saw the link I wondered what it was all about and I clicked the link. I started to read what someone had wrote. Most of the blogs I have read are nothing important, but a few blogs caught my eye. I enjoyed reading what people were thinking, what was on their mind, or what was going on and decided to write my own.
